Tornado Reported Near Jenner, Alberta on October 7 Confirmed

At approximately 2:50 pm MDT on Saturday, October 7th, a brief tornado was observed 15 km southeast of Jenner, Alberta. Environment and Climate Change Canada's Prairie and Arctic Storm Prediction Centre (PASPC) received multiple reports and photos, however there were no reports of damage. Therefore, this tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF0.

This was considered a landspout tornado that was generated by weak rotation under a rapidly growing thunderstorm. Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous as they can topple trees, damage roofs, or toss debris a short distance.

PASPC meteorologists are actively seeking pictures of the tornado or damage it may have caused. Should you have any information regarding this event, or to report severe weather at any time, please call 1-800-239-0484, send an email to ec.storm.ec(at)canada.ca, or tweet to (hash)abstorm.
