Here's what Environment Canada wrote:

"Alberta

Area(s): Central and southern regions.

Timing: Near noon into the overnight period

Threats: 2-5cm hail, locally heavy rain, wind gusts 90-100 km/h especially over southeastern sections

Low pressure system developing over Northern Montana and extending into Southern Alberta with a surface trough extending northward will bring thunderstorms to the area. Main threats with this developing system will be hail in the 2-5 cm range and wind gusts of 90-100 km/h in the southern and eastern parts of Alberta this afternoon. The greatest risk of severe storms is over the Medicine Hat and eastern Cypress hills region. Storms that develop later in the day or that are along a convergence line between roughly Camrose and Calgary will be slow moving and could give locally heavy rain."
