Southern Ontario: Snow Day (Bus Cancellation) Forecast for Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Regional maps are included at the bottom of the article.
Disclaimer: Instant Weather has zero authority when it comes to bus and school closures. It is completely up to the school boards, bus companies, and local authorities as well as being up to parents to decide what is best for their children. This is simply our best guess based on our forecast.
Note: We’re only showing the portion of the province where the chance of a snow day is at 10% or higher. If you don’t see your region on the map then it can be assumed that your chances are lower than 10%.
Forecast Explanation: A messy winter storm is expected to impact Southern Ontario overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Confidence is fairly high for a snow day for the Sarnia-London area where freezing rain will be present during the morning commute. While freezing rain is expected through the GTHA and Niagara Region we don’t believe it’ll be enough to meet the more strict criteria that urban school boards typically use to determine if bus cancellations are necessary. Further north, confidence is also high around Georgian Bay as around 10cm of snow will have fallen by the morning with more on the way throughout the day. Snowfall warnings from Environment Canada we expect will be expanded overnight to include more of Central Ontario so we’ve accounted for that in the forecast. Impacts in Eastern Ontario won’t occur until after the morning bus run so unless the boards decide to be proactive and consider the afternoon bus run we don’t foresee any cancellations there for the most part. The exception to this is the Tri-Board district (Including Bancroft etc.) as they have shown to be more proactive in the past and listen to alerts/weather forecasts instead of just the road conditions in the morning. As a result, the probability is higher than what we normally would assign that area.
As always, we'll be up extra early to post any bus cancellations.
