Disclaimer: Instant Weather has zero authority when it comes to bus and school closures. It is completely up to the school boards, bus companies, and local authorities as well as being up to parents to decide what is best for their children. This is simply our best guess based on our forecast.

Forecast Explanation: Widespread freezing rain warnings issued from Environment Canada in advance of a potential ice storm to affect Southern Ontario beginning tomorrow morning will mean an ‘ice’ (snow) is almost certain for much of Southwestern Ontario. While precipitation isn’t expected to start until after the decision is made to cancel buses in the morning, we believe (and hope) that school boards will be proactive and consider the mid-morning and afternoon bus run which could be quite dangerous. We’ve been more aggressive in our chances further north with some areas being only covered by a winter weather advisory from Environment Canada yet we have them at a 75% of a chance of an ‘ice’ day. This is because we believe the freezing rain warning will likely be expanded in the coming hours and have accounted for that. Even if that doesn’t happen we really hope school boards will look at the forecast closely because this isn’t a storm to play around with. The area of Eastern Ontario near the Quebec border and North-central Ontario should be mostly unaffected by the first round of precipitation tomorrow so the chances are much lower.

As always, we'll be up extra early to post any bus cancellations.
