Winter Storm Warning Issued
Environment Canada
(Locations listed below description)
Heavy snowfall with blowing snow is expected.
A storm over the maritimes is tracking across the gulf of st lawrence today and will reach the labrador coast on thursday. It will give 25 to 40 centimetres of snow by thursday morning over the lower north shore. Later on, behind the system, high westerly winds gusting up to 100 km/h will develop and reduce visibilities in blowing snow.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by environment canada. To report severe weather, send an email to qcstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #qcstorm.
