Environment Canada Confirms Alberta's 18th Tornado of The Season!

We received several reports from northeast of Waskatenau, Alberta this afternoon, originally only showing a funnel cloud but then more reports were sent showing this impressive funnel cloud reaching the surface. Once a funnel cloud reaches the surface and there is a clear debris cloud, it is then considered a tornado.

Environment Canada has confirmed this tornado as an EF0 in their weather summary and this is what they said:

"Weather summary for Alberta issued by Environment Canada at 5:49 p.m. MDT Wednesday 24 July 2019.

A strong low pressure system affecting Alberta brought severe weather to some locations on Wednesday, July 24. Below is a summary of severe weather reports received by Environment and Climate Change Canada as of 5 pm MDT on July 24:

Confirmed tornado: Time: Approximately 1:50 pm MDT Location: Northeast of Waskatenau Damage: None reported Preliminary rating: EF0 Estimated wind speed in kilometres per hour: 90 - 130

There was also a report of toonie sized hail (29 mm) reported just west of Lloydminster Wednesday afternoon.
