#BREAKING: Manitoba Declaring State of Emergency with Widespread and Lengthy Power Outages Expected

InstantWeather

Manitoba is now declaring a state of emergency because of this historic snowstorm. Premier Brian Pallister says the decision follows a request from Manitoba Hydro and significant power outages are expected.

The significant wind gusts, some reaching as high as 100km/h, combined with historical amounts of heavy, wet snow has caused havoc on the power grid and have caused widespread power outages and based on Manitoba Hydro's recommendation, a state of emergency was required.

Our warmest and safest thoughts are with all those affected and we hope your power is restored quickly!

A huge thank you to all the hydro workers who are risking their own safety to return the power to the affected regions.

Be safe folks!
