Snowfall Warning Issued

A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected.

A developing low pressure system moving into western alberta today will bring significant snowfall to parts of west-central alberta through tuesday. The highest accumulations are expected in a band stretching from north of grande cache southeastward to the brazeau dam, where totals of near 20 centimetres could fall by tuesday evening.

The storm will begin in the west, where hinton - grande cache will see 10-15 centimetres monday night into tuesday morning. As the storm tracks southeastward tuesday, another 10 centimetres is expected to fall in southern portions of the edson region and northern portions of the nordegg and rocky mountain house regions. Highways 16 and 40 will also be impacted, with slick road conditions and poor visibility at times.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.
