Environment Canada is also forecasting significant severe weather in the Calgary area and the surrounding region. Here's their forecast:

Environment Canada writes:

"Alberta

Area(s): All except the far south

Timing: Afternoon and into the overnight

Threats: Hail up to 6 cm, wind gusts up to 90 km/h and potential tornado

A trough of low pressure is forecast to develop along the foothills then turn eastward south of Calgary. This trough is expected to trigger thunderstorms this afternoon. Along the foothills, confidence is high in thunderstorm development and severity. Moving off the terrain and along the eastward extension of the trough confidence is low-moderate in thunderstorm development. If thunderstorms develop along this section of the trough, confidence is high the threat of hail would be severe, up to 6 cm in diameter. Storms that ride this trough eastward have the potential to produce a tornado. A low pressure system near Great Slave Lake will produce scattered non-severe thunderstorms over northern sections of Alberta.”
