(Locations listed below description)

Active spring weather continues across most of Alberta bringing a mix of rain and snow.

A large area of rain and wet snow has developed in a band West to East across Central Alberta, including the Edmonton metropolitan Region. This will transition completely to snow by early Wednesday morning. Snow will then move southward and taper off through the day Wednesday.

In general, snowfall totals are expected to be less than 2 cm across Central Alberta. Areas near the Saskatchewan border between Cold Lake and Fort McMurray are likely to see 5 cm overnight. To the West, areas along the northern rockies and Foothills may see up to 10 cm of heavy, wet snow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall in the Grande Cache and Kakwa Provincial Park areas.

Wednesday, higher elevations along the icefields parkway Highway 93 will see 5 to 10 cm of wet snow. Snowfall here will taper off Wednesday night.

Potential impacts include poor travel conditions and broken tree branches due to the accumulation of heavy wet snow.
