Winter Storm Warning Issued

Environment Canada

(Locations listed below description)

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A winter storm will bring multiple winter hazards to West-Central Alberta beginning tonight and continuing into Monday.

An area of rain or snow and patchy freezing rain will begin tonight between Grande Prairie, Hinton and the Swan Hills and will continue throughout the morning hours on Monday before switching over snow.

Heavy snow will occur Monday afternoon and evening, with snowfall totals of 10 to 15 cm expected.

Additionally, strong North winds will develop Monday afternoon. Wind gusts up to 70 km/h will cause poor visibility in blowing snow in the afternoon and evening.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to abstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.
