Extreme Cold Warning Ended

Environment Canada

(Locations listed below description)

An Arctic Ridge of high pressure will bring bitterly cold wind chills to southern Saskatchewan.

Extreme wind chills of -40 or lower will redevelop across much of southern Saskatchewan again tonight. Some moderation will occur on Thursday, but extreme wind chills will again develop over parts of eastern Saskatchewan on Thursday night.

A more sustained improvement to temperatures will occur this weekend as milder temperatures push eastwards across the Prairie provinces.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Watch for cold related symptoms: Shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
