Severe Thunderstorm Warning Replaces Tornado Warning

At 8:58 P.M. Edt, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Cambridge to 12 kilometres North of norwich to Belmont to ridgetown, moving East at 60 km/h.

Hazard: 110 km/h wind gusts. Nickel size hail.

Locations impacted include: St. Thomas, Cambridge, Aylmer, Tillsonburg, norwich, ancaster, dundas, John e. Pearce Provincial Park, Port Stanley, Port Bruce Provincial Park, ayr, rockton, Port talbot, fingal, dexter, sparta, mapleton, Port Bruce, Springfield, Mount salem, Brantford, paris, scotland, St. George and ohsweken.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: Large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
