TROPICAL STORM WARNING
InstantWeather
Tropical storm warning in effect:
Tropical storm force winds of 60 gusting to 90 km/h over exposed areas from Hurricane Fiona can be expected over the above regions.
This warning represents the outer part of Hurricane / Severe Post-Tropical Fiona. The winds will be easterly to southerly over the Newfoundland portion of the storm, northwesterly over the Maritime Provinces portion, and north to northeasterly in the Quebec and Labrador regions (later for Labrador).
Wind gusts closer to 100 km/h are expected in some regions which will be reflected in local area wind warnings.
These winds could break large tree branches resulting in downed utility lines. Some damage to signage and roof shingles may also occur. Secure loose objects on your property and anticipate power interruptions. Identify important belongings and backup items such as flashlights in case of power interruption.
A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions (sustained winds near 65 km/h or more) are expected over parts of the region within 24 hours.
By nature, a tropical storm also implies the threat of local flooding from heavy rainfall - consult your local area forecast for possible rainfall warnings.
