Weather Advisory Issued

Environment Canada

(Locations listed below description)

Winter weather travel advisory in effect for Saturday and Saturday night.

Hazards: Local snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm by Sunday morning. Visibilities may be reduced to near zero in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing: Beginning Saturday morning and ending overnight Saturday.

Discussion: Snow squalls currently over Lake Ontario are expected to drift North through the area Saturday. Some areas may see a brief break in the snow squalls Saturday afternoon before they drift back South through the area Saturday night.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
