Freezing Rain Warning Issued

Environment Canada

(Locations listed below description)

Freezing rain continues.

Locations: Southwestern Manitoba, the Red River Valley, Whiteshell and Sprague.

Time span: Continuing for some until Sunday afternoon.

Remarks: A band of freezing rain continues for many in the South late this morning. Several hours worth of freezing rain has already been reported in Brandon and Dauphin Sunday morning. The transition of freezing rain to rain is expected from West to East Sunday afternoon as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

As the low pressure system and associated warm front bringing the freezing rain Progress eastward, a gradual reduction in freezing rain Sunday afternoon is expected.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
